Scott is a good friend of mine. His daughter took a wonderful photo of him that inspired him to ask me if I would paint a portrait from it. He intended it to be in a loose, impressionistic style, I think, but the lighting, set in a dark corner with light streaming across his right shoulder was so reminiscent of the old Dutch masters that I was compelled to paint in that style.
