Slow and Steady

Slow and Steady

The WAST studio tour is behind me, and I’m happy as a clam, hunkered in my home studio every day.  Moving towards my highest potential; mediocrity is not for me!

I’m researching and strategizing, but above all, I’m painting.  I’m surrounded by paintings that I’m constantly evaluating: Is this finished?  Does it bring me joy and satisfaction?  How can I make it better? What am I conveying and evoking?

Posting this image of Benediction, I see a couple things to fix tomorrow.  Photos are very helpful tools for honing!  They seem to accentuate flaws.

I’ve gotten a good start on one commission and am in talks for another.  Both are fun and interesting challenges, with plenty of room for creative expression.

I’m enthusiastic about new paintings I’ve started, but disciplining myself to truly finish the ones that have been around a while. Then I’ll find places to show them.  I need to keep things moving, because I don’t have the space for accumulating artwork.

The ideas jumbling around in me must be patient.  I won’t rush through one painting to get to the next.  As I  take each piece through my slow, meditative process, one lesson informs the next.  Step by step, feeling my way forward.

My storefront is up, and has passed the sale test~ Yay!

I guess the next thing is a newsletter.  I keep hearing how important that is for my business.  In addition to or instead of this blog?
