A Bump in the Road
Dear Readers,
My intention has been to begin a newsletter and probably have that be my primary form of updates, but there’s a glitch I haven’t been able to work through yet.
So. Haha. In my last post I mentioned something about the distractions of summer, and how I felt I was making progress in being able to balance the businesses of life with staying creatively productive... Apparently I needed an intervention, which came July 12th in the form of being hit by a car, fracturing my left humerus at the shoulder. All of my planned adventures suddenly went *POOF*. The injury required me to become as close to immobile as possible, to avoid compounding the injury and allow it to heal. Yes, I am right handed, so the answer to the immediate question “can I paint?” was technically yes, but not really in those first painful weeks, and my productivity will be hampered for a while yet.
I did manage to finish ‘Danté’, which is mainly for promoting my pet portrait skills. I enjoy having Danté around, and I’m creating a cat companion for him.
I painted a quick catharsis tribute to Tokitae last week. It felt good to express myself in such a direct spiritual way. I will be continuing to explore in that direction.
I have been absorbing lots of information about this whole becoming a professional artist thing, via webinars, courses, forums, research, learning directly from and being inspired by fellow artists.
I don’t know how long I will remain physically handicapped, but I’m doing what I can with art while also devoting myself to attaining a complete recovery.
